Job Details Job Location: PALM DESERT DISTRIBUTION CENTER - PALM DESERT, CA 92211 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $17.00 - $27.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: Flex Job Category: Health Care Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service while conducting donor registration. Perform donor interviews and limited physical assessments, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse and hematocrit/hemoglobin. Prepare pre‑donation apheresis samples. Confidentially interview donors regarding medical history and current health status. Perform phlebotomy for allogeneic whole blood and directed whole blood collection. Monitor donor recovery and manage adverse donor reactions. Discontinue manual collection of donor units in the drawing area when necessary. Properly prepare blood units for transport to the laboratory. Assist with donor recovery and adverse reactions. Draw specimens for donor re‑test and other orders. Set up and break down daily equipment and supplies and conduct quality control on specified instruments. Accurately complete all required documentation regarding donor, procedure, QC, and cleaning records. Actively recruit donors to blood bank programs (e.g., apheresis) and promotions (e.g., special events). Work at different draw locations as needed. Customer Interaction & Problem Solving Maintain a high standard for courteous, enthusiastic service to internal and external customers. Prioritize customer needs during face‑to‑face or telephone interactions and demonstrate moderate problem‑solving skills. Complexity Work involves duties that require making choices in a few recognizable situations, requiring analysis of the subject in each assignment. Decisions often involve selecting among several alternatives and identifying interrelationships. Supervision The supervisor assigns objectives, priorities, and deadlines; provides guidance for unusual situations. The employee plans and executes tasks following policies and available resources, with some opportunity to interpret policy and determine approaches for assignments. Qualifications Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work with blood. Ability to function as a team member. Ability to follow procedure. Good accuracy with attention to detail. Ability to perform successful venipunctures. Good documentation skills. Ability to work with machines (sufficiently technically minded). Ability to lift 30 pounds. Basic math skills related to determining donor eligibility, recognition, and draw information. Ability to drive a standard passenger vehicle. Knowledge of basic computer operation. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Education High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. Optional: Medical Assistant Diploma, Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma, Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, Phlebotomy Certificate or similar military experience/certification. Experience One to two years of customer service experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, etc. Emergency Medical Technician Certificate (if applicable), Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma (if applicable), Phlebotomy Certificate (if applicable), or similar military experience/certification; Current CPR Certification; Current California Driver’s license. Physical Demands Refer to ADA checklist attached for physical demands. Work Environment Laboratory and medical environments with high risks, including mobile operations.
