Position Overview: The Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of irrigation systems to ensure efficient operation and customer satisfaction. This role requires technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, professionalism, and a customer-focused mindset.

At Sunrise Irrigation, the Technician position is an umbrella role that includes multiple types of technicians, such as Maintenance Technicians, Callback Technicians, Service Technicians, and Sales Advisors. Technicians may perform a variety of functions in the field while supporting installation, maintenance, service, callbacks, training support, and customer consultation. All Technicians are trained under the same core program and are expected to consistently meet Sunrise Irrigation’s standards for quality, safety, service, and communication. Based on individual skill level, performance, knowledge, and experience, Technicians may take on different responsibilities and continue to develop additional skills over time.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, motivated, and brings a can-do attitude, with a strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute to the success of the team and the company.

Note:  Initial training (4–6 weeks) will take place in Lutz, FL. Work location: 34787 area.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

• Design and layout new irrigation systems according to design specifications and local codes.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on existing irrigation systems to ensure proper functioning and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system components, including points of connection, pipes, valves, controllers, sprinkler heads and micro-irrigation.
• Use shovels and trenching equipment to safely excavate work areas.

Technical Expertise:

• Possess a strong understanding of irrigation system components, hydraulic principles, electrical troubleshooting techniques and water conservation practices.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in irrigation systems.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to irrigation system installation and maintenance.

Customer Interaction:

• Interact with customers professionally and courteously during service calls and installations.
• Communicate effectively with customers to explain irrigation system operation, maintenance procedures, and recommendations for optimal performance.

Problem-Solving:

• Diagnose complex issues with irrigation systems and develop effective solutions to resolve them promptly.
• Proactively identify potential problems and suggest preventive maintenance measures to customers.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, installation logs, and inventory usage.
• Provide detailed reports to supervisors and customers regarding work completed, and recommendations for system improvements.
• Exhibit strong communication skills with the Backoffice team and management to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.

Team Collaboration:

• Work collaboratively with other technicians and contractors and support staff to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
• Support colleagues by sharing knowledge, aiding, and participating in team meetings and training sessions.

Professionalism and Conduct:

• Represent Sunrise Irrigation professionally and uphold our values of integrity, reliability, and excellence.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance while on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate a can-do attitude, always seeking solutions and taking initiative to overcome challenges.
• Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime as needed. Workdays are considered complete when all tasks are successfully completed, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction

• Participate in training programs and workshops provided by Sunrise Irrigation to expand your knowledge and expertise.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings to stay updated on company procedures and industry best practices.

• Meet or exceed performance goals and metrics related to service response times, customer satisfaction, and project completion timelines.
• Strive for continuous improvement in technical skills, efficiency, and customer service delivery.

Driving and Licensing Requirements:

• Maintain a valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
• Ensure the company vehicle is maintained in good condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
• Lift at least 75 lbs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED, relevant certifications preferred. 
• Must be at least 18 years of age. 
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proven experience as an irrigation technician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of irrigation systems, hydraulic principles, electrical troubleshooting and water conservation practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues.
• Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift heavy equipment.
