Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - CST FA

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) with orthopedic experience and prior travel assignment history for an acute care hospital OR position. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assistant, with at least 1 year in the specialty 2–3 prior travel assignments required Proficiency assisting in orthopedic cases is required; neuro/spine experience is preferred CSFA certification via NBSTSA required (ABSA credentials are not accepted) CST certification via NBSTSA required Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant program required BLS certification from the American Heart Association required Epic EMR experience required Driver's license address must reflect a residence at least 50 miles from the facility License required if applicable Driver's license copy required for consideration Two professional references required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration Responsibilities Work in a main OR with 14 suites at an acute care hospital Averages 28 cases per day with approximately 5 add-ons, including same-day surgery (SDS) cases Common case types include neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, and ENT; no open heart cases Patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR OR techs are responsible for room turnover as no aides or housekeeping support is provided Charting is done in Epic (experience required) Schedule is Monday–Friday with a mix of 12-hour shifts (7:00am–7:30pm) and 8-hour shifts (7:00am–3:30pm) Weekday and weekend call rotations required; weekday call shifts run 7pm–7am or 7pm–11pm Weekend call shifts vary and can run 7am–7pm, 7pm–7am, 7pm–11pm, or 7am–7am (12–24 hours) Call requirement is approximately one 12-hour weekday call shift per week and one 24-hour weekend call shift per month (which may be split into two 12-hour shifts) Call response time is 20 minutes; candidates who live more than 20 minutes away and are on call may be required to remain on-site Holiday call coverage is required as needed Floating to outpatient surgery may be required as needed 13-week assignment with a day shift primary schedule Assist surgeons in a broad range of surgical cases including neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT OR operates with a staffing model of approximately 2 techs per 1 RN to run 7–8 rooms A charge nurse is present from 7am–7pm and will circulate cases as needed Orientation consists of 3 shifts Scrubs are not provided for first assistants (provided for RNs and OR techs only) Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7 and manages ventilated patients brought to the OR and in the PACU Pharmacy is available 24/7 with Omnicell on-site Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning Candidates who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year must also take a 2-year break before reapplying First-time travelers are not eligible for this position Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts #J-18808-Ljbffr
