Position Summary: The Relationship Development Officer is responsible for driving business growth, fostering relationships with existing and potential members, and identifying opportunities to expand our member base and increase revenue streams.
Schedule: Average of 40 hours per week including some evenings and weekends
Member Service:
- Proactively interact with members and potential members to build relationships of trust.
- Assist members with account inquiries, loan requests, and problem resolution by connecting them with the appropriate referred source in a timely and professional manner.
- Educate members and potential members about credit union products and services and connect them with appropriate referred sources.
- Follow up with referred members or potential members to ensure satisfaction & resolution.
Member Acquisition and Retention:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract new members to the credit union.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing members to ensure retention and satisfaction.
- Conduct outreach activities such as community events, seminars, and networking to promote the credit union.
- Proactively engage with local businesses to promote credit union membership and encourage their employees to join.
Relationship Development & Management:
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth through market research and analysis.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop new products and services that meet the needs of current and prospective members.
- Explore partnerships and alliances with other organizations to expand the credit union's reach and enhance its offerings.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members, business partners, and community leaders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to members, offering personalized financial solutions and advice.
- Act as brand ambassador for Westmark, representing its values and commitment to serving the community.
- Leverage the understanding of local and regional communities to find ways to support and execute innovative engagements to connect Westmark to key audiences.
Sales and Marketing:
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote Westmark’s products and services.
- Provide support to front-line staff in selling and referring financial products and services.
- Track and analyze sales performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Generate leads through various channels, including networking, referrals, and direct outreach.
- Identify opportunities to promote Westmark’s products and services to potential members and businesses.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and support events that drive member engagement and acquisition.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to business development and financial services.
- Mitigate risks associated with new initiatives or partnerships through thorough due diligence and risk assessment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, marketing, finance or related field preferred, CCUFC or MBA a plus.
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role, preferably withing the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of financial products and services, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Community-oriented with a passion for member service and engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing business opportunities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to various locations for meetings, events, and conferences.
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods while conducting meetings or presentations.
- Ability to lift and carry materials such as promotional items and displays, up to 25 pounds.
- Must have visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including computer use and interaction with others.
