Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 2 years of Level III NICU experience, including ventilator and oscillator management, for a night shift travel contract in Washington, DC.

• Level III NICU in a hospital setting
• Patient population ranges from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, primarily admitted from labor and delivery
• Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
• Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, High Frequency Oscillation (HFO), and nitric oxide inhalation therapy
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• 9-week contract

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (no pending licenses accepted); a DC RN license is required
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in a US hospital required; 3+ years strongly preferred
• Level III NICU experience required, including management of vents, oscillators, pressors, and micro-preemies
• US Social Security Number required
• Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the past 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
• Date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery, and attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
• Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
• Parent teaching is a component of the nursing role on this unit
• Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• All certifications must be AHA-issued
