If youre passionate about meaningful work and want to be part of something bigger than yourself, Caris is where your impact begins./ph3Position Summary/h3pThe Molecular Technologist Liquid Profiling is responsible for performing routine high complexity molecular techniques that include, but are not limited to, blood processing and buffy coat extraction, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, equipment maintenance, laboratory inventory, sample tracking and receiving packages. This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies. Molecular Technologists develop foundational skills in molecular workflows, quality systems and data documentation while contributing to team goals./ph3Job Responsibilities/h3ulliSample preparation, including blood centrifugation, plasma processing and buffy coat extractions./liliPerforms RNA and DNA extractions for daily molecular testing and ensures correct patient labeling./liliPerforms molecular techniques such as real-time PCR and Next-Generation Sequencing./liliPrepares Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) documents for nonconformance events observed during the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical clinical laboratory testing./liliParticipates in continuous process improvements, validations and proficiency testing./liliTracks, enters, and monitors patient files using the Laboratory Information System./liliMaintains laboratory equipment, including completing logs and maintenance, i.e. clean, sterilize, maintain, and shut down laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments used in research experiments, daily and weekly as required./liliEach individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individuals education, training or experience, and technical abilities./liliFollow the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintain records of patient test results./liliMaintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens./liliAdhere to the laboratorys quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed./liliFollow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance./liliBe capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, manager or director./liliDocument all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications./liliPerform high complexity testing under the onsite, direct supervision of a general supervisor as defined in the CLIA regulations./liliAccepts other duties as assigned./li/ulh3Required Qualifications/h3ulliWe are seeking to hire a Molecular Technologist with varying levels of experience./liulliMolecular Technologist I - Bachelors degree in scientific field required and may have less than 1 year of relevant work experience./liliMolecular Technologist II Bachelors degree in scientific field required and 3+ years of relevant molecular laboratory experience./li/ulliBachelors degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution./liliDemonstrate skills in technical data interpretation and ability to troubleshoot./liliProficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. General working knowledge of the internet for business use, and skilled in operating office equipment./li/ulh3Preferred Qualifications/h3ulliMasters degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution./liliDemonstrate proficiency in technical data interpretation and ability to troubleshoot./liliRNA and DNA extraction experience./liliNucleic acid extraction experience./liliNext Generation Sequencing experience/liliKnowledge of laboratory safety procedures for biohazards and chemicals, as well as quality control procedures and regulations./li/ulh3Physical Demands/h3ulliWill work at a computer some of the time as well as need to keep inventory and ordering records requiring the use of copiers and PDF scanners./liliVisual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test./liliManual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required./liliMust possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time./liliMust possess ability to perform repetitive motion./liliAbility to lift up to 30 pounds./liliMay be required to handle and/or may have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formaldehyde, xylene, Clorox bleach, DAB and alcohol, which emit fumes.
