Registered Nurse (RN) - Mother Baby (Post Partum)This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Mother Baby (Post Partum) unit. The role involves providing care to patients during the postpartum period, with responsibilities extending to labor and delivery as needed.Shift DetailsShift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekWeekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week scheduleHolidays: Must work with permanent staff, typically one major and one minor holidayUnit InformationPostpartum Unit Size: 27 beds, including a 5-bed nurseryLabor and Delivery Unit: 7 beds, with 4 triage beds and 2 overflow bedsAverage Births: 3 births per day, totaling approximately 1,545 per yearPatient Demographics: High-risk deliveries, substance abuse withdrawals, EMT drop-offs, and patients who may have no prenatal careResponsibilitiesProvide nursing care to postpartum patients and their newborns.Assist in labor and delivery, including circulating during C-sections.Collaborate with healthcare teams and participate in patient intake procedures.Float between Labor and Delivery and Postpartum units, as needed.Support other areas like NICU, particularly with grower/feeders.QualificationsMinimum 2 years of nursing experience required, with at least one prior travel contract preferred.Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring (AWOHNN - intermediate or advanced); Stable certification preferred.Experience in handling C-sections and ability to circulate in surgical settings.Working EnvironmentThe nursing team utilizes Cerner for electronic medical records and employs FetalLink for fetal monitoring. There is a resource nurse available for breaks and dedicated pharmacy and RT support available 24/7.Orientation and TrainingOrientation period consists of 3 shifts specific to the unit.Additional NotesFluency in Spanish is advantageous due to the demographics of the patient population.
