Be Customer & Results Driven Anticipate the Possibilities Communicate Responsibly Develop Self & Others Get Better Every Day Position: 1st or 2nd Shift Operator (Temp to Hire) How You Will Contribute Operator performs a variety of machine operations, material handling, quality checks, light assembly, and general maintenance in the Fabrication department. Operators will communicate with their team lead regarding safety, quality, and delivery opportunities daily. Periodically work overtime and/or alternate shifts to meet the production demands. Operators will be expected to maintain safety, quality, and delivery at or above the expected level, actively participate in team activities, training, the company’s 5‑S activities and follow Douglas Dynamics rules regarding work and conduct. Run test cycles and do quality audits to maintain accuracy and quality. Maintain safety, quality, and throughput as required. Perform timely upkeep of equipment and programs. Communicate with other departments/shifts daily. Keep work area, tools, material, and equipment clean and orderly. Work in a safe manner and report unsafe conditions as required. Track use of consumables and record production data daily. Willingness to operate all equipment in the Fab business unit after completing equipment training. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Ability to read and understand blueprints/specifications Ability to stand, walk, reach above shoulders and outward, bend, squat, crawl Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Desired Skills Ability to read and understand calipers, micrometer, and protractors Ability to setup and operate fabrication equipment Prior experience in metal fabrication Our focus on integrity, teamwork, and high performance creates an ideal work environment for every one of our employees.
