Interior Designer

At Mary Cook Associates, you'll design some of the country's most exciting multifamily amenity spaces alongside a collaborative team of designers and architects who care deeply about great design. Based in Chicago, MCA has spent nearly 40 years creating award-winning interiors for premier developers and owners nationwide. THE ROLE As an Interior Designer, you'll contribute to the design arc of multifamily, student housing, and amenity projects, from concept through construction documents and installation. You'll work under the guidance of a Project Lead and Studio Leadership, with the level of oversight and independence scaling as your experience grows. WHAT YOU'LL OWN Contribute to design development, documentation, and visualization across a range of projects Support FFE, materials, and finishes selections upholding MCA's 7 Fundamentals Assist in building coordinated drawing sets using CAD and Revit Research and recommend materials, finishes, and vendor resources Communicate clearly with your project team and take ownership of your work's quality Manage your assigned deadlines and proactively flag issues as they arise Grow into increasing independence, sound judgment, and client-facing communication as your experience builds WHAT YOU BRING 2 to 6+ years of experience in interior design, architecture, or related field Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture NCIDQ or Licensed Architect, a plus Growing proficiency in CAD/Revit, with an eye toward mastering the tools Developing familiarity with FF&E, finishes, and vendor resources A clear communicator who takes feedback well and grows from it A portfolio of work you're proud to show YOU'RE A FIT IF You take ownership of your work at every level, big or small You're eager to learn and grow into more responsibility You stay curious about design, technology, and craft You work well within a team and communicate clearly You want a long runway to grow into a design career, not just a job CORE SKILLS WHAT WE OFFER We're a studio that takes the work seriously and respects the people doing it.
