Office Specialist - Nebraska City

Job Description The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Office Specialist to assist with clerical duties, compile and check documents, records, and reports, confirm accuracy and completeness, monitor information status, process requests or transactions, and provide supervisors and employees with information to support decision making for the Division of Medicaid & Long-Term Care and Economic Assistance. Responsibilities Meet federal time frames related to processing Medicaid & Long-Term Care and Economic Assistance applications and public assistance referrals. Review applications/referrals to ensure appropriateness, close duplicate cases, and facilitate merging of duplicate persons/cases. Utilize the state computer system to keep case information current. Build accurate cases to enable case managers to progress efficiently through Medicaid & Long-Term Care and Economic Assistance application stages. Assist with general clerical duties. Compile and check documents, records, and reports to confirm accuracy, completeness, and status of information and process requests or transactions. Qualifications Coursework or training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods, including operation of personal computers and office equipment, or related agency functions. Experience in customer service or public contact, applying criteria/regulations, and performing administrative/office/secretarial support work. Knowledge of program‑admin work assigned to the position, sources of pertinent information, and record‑keeping principles and practices. Ability to formulate and recommend alternative courses of action, communicate via person, telephone, computer, email, or correspondence, summarize technical data and reports, understand and apply instructions and policies, implement decisions, and learn agency policies and relevant structures.
