Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Smiths employs approximately 16,000 colleagues in over 50 countries.Job DescriptionThe Branch Operations Manager will manage and coordinate staff and operations of inside sales, warehouse, inventory, seal repair, machining, assembly, CAD engineering and procurement to achieve timely production of quality products at the most economical cost and proper quantities. Develop and coordinate a work force capable of meeting the operating procedures to facilitate the physical distribution of product.SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Supervise work of personnel; schedule work, manage overtime, cross train, and manage personnel actions.Provides leadership for team through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.Develops and monitors operating procedures in order processing, inventory control, customer service, seal repair, machining, assembly, etc. and personnel training.Handles incoming telephone, fax, mail orders and inquires on a variety of subject matters such as pricing information and quotations, part identification, application recommendations, delivery dates, change orders and seal repair service.Interprets and implements company policies.Manage inventory management system to optimize customer order requirements while maintaining capacity utilization and the lowest level of inventory.Approves ordering parts from vendors. Authorizes substitute part numbers.Achieve monthly forecasts, backlog management, and on-time delivery.Manage annual operating budgets. Oversees the maintenance of building, equipment, grounds, etc.Analyzes operations problems or deficiencies and initiates corrective action.Provide assurance that safety, health and environmental rules and regulations are met or exceeded.Additional duties as assigned.QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred or equivalent work experience.Minimum 6 years working in a manufacturing environment to include mechanical seals or rotating equipment, inventory, material management, and distribution practices.Must be able to read blueprints.Supervisory experience to include supervising a diverse work force.Knowledge of integrated business and manufacturing systems operations involving MRP.Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate business operations.Machine shop experience is a big plus.EHS REQUIREMENTS:Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistently by supporting the company's goals.Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.Follow all environmental requirements consistently by supporting the company's environmental performance goals.Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements.Additional InformationWith colleagues stretching across the globe, we are proud of our diversity.
