Payroll and Recruiting Specialist

Mount Hermon is a large and thriving camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains (central California coast) and we're looking to hire a full-time, on-site Payroll and Recruiting Specialist. The Payroll and Recruiting Specialist role is responsible for accurately processing MH payroll and maintaining MH employee payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements. This role serves as a key liaison between Human Resources and Accounting, ensuring timely and precise compensation, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and retirement plan contributions. The Payroll Specialist also calculates and processes camp rent charges, including prorating rent fees for staff entering or leaving seasonal and other housing. In addition, this role prepares payroll-related changes, reconciles benefit invoices with current benefit enrollment, assists with reporting and audits, and provides responsive support to employees regarding payroll inquiries. The Payroll and Recruiting Specialist is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming MH’s Christian mission, vision, beliefs and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MH’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats.
