Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team in a Long Term Care and Rehabilitation/Skilled Nursing Facility setting. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of one year of nursing experience and possess a passion for working with stable long-term care residents.

• Long term care and rehabilitation patients
• No memory care unit
• Common diagnoses include stable nursing home patients and dementia residents
• Collaboration with hospice care for comfort care patients

Patient Ratios

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:25-30
• 2 nurses per shift (could include RN/LPN or LPN/LPN)
• Medication Aide to Patient Ratio: 1:25-30, with 2 Medication Aides per shift
• CNA to Patient Ratio: 1:10, with 5 CNAs per shift

Required Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN): BLS
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): BLS
• CNA: CNA certified
• Medication Aide: BLS and Med Aide Certified through the South Dakota Board of Nursing

Education Requirements

• RN/LPN: Completion of a nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing
• CNA: High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Med Aide: High School diploma or GED equivalent

Essential Skills

• Tube feeding, ostomy care, dressing/wound care experience
• Phlebotomy and IV starts
• Ability to perform in a Charge RN capacity (for RNs)
• Verification of medication rights for Medication Aides
• Assisting residents with activities of daily living for CNAs
• Team player, positive attitude, and competent in LTC experience preferred
• Willingness to comply with COVID testing protocols

Support on the Unit

Supervision will be provided by a charge nurse, along with a hospitalist available on call. Physical and occupational therapists are also part of the team.

Charting System

Point Click Care; RNs will additionally utilize Epic to view patient information.

Orientation

Orientation will consist of two shifts across units, along with any departmental training offered.

Scheduling

• 12-hour variable shifts (Days or Nights)
• Weekend rotations required-minimum of every other weekend
• Holidays: Expected to work during two out of four major holidays
• Approval required for time off exceeding 7 days
• PTO is not permitted during designated high-traffic periods

• Scrub colors: RN - Ceil blue top and black pants; CNA - Caribbean blue top and black pants
• Complimentary parking is provided
• Restrictions on personal appearance: No artificial nails permitted
• In case of severe weather, staff may be required to stay on-site.
