- Effectively direct and supervise all functions and activities of the dairy and frozen department in order to achieve the sales, gross profit, customer service and labor goals established for the department.
- Develop and implement plans for maximizing sales, gross profits and overall results in the department.
- Adhere to all local, state and federal health and labor laws, OSHA regulations and EEOC requirements ensuring that the work environment is safe and free from discrimination and harassment.
- Regularly check equipment, coolers, refrigeration equipment, freezers, etc. to ensure they are in proper working order (i.e. motors free of dust, temperatures in proper range, etc.).
- Become familiar with all products carried in the departments including being fully knowledgeable in the differences between the many varieties and types of dairy and frozen products.
- Order and maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality (i.e. temperature), expiration date standards and turnover.
- Follow approved procedures for ordering, receiving product, price marking, dating and restocking cases to ensure quality protection (i.e. temperature).
- Check and verify department merchandise received to ensure that all items listed on vendor invoices are delivered and meet quality standards.
- Review all new products with the General Manager and/or Director of Operations.
- Promptly and efficiently handle all customer and employee complaints.
- Interview, hire, train and evaluate a productive team through supervision, work delegation and appropriate rewards and discipline.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous dairy management experience, required.
- Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Food Management Certification, preferred.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for 8 or more hour periods.
- Must be able to regularly bend, lift and/or move 25 pounds.
- Must be able to frequently bend, lift and/or move 50 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally bend, lift and/or move 75 pounds (with assistance).
- Ability to work in cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to reach and move items above shoulder height.
- Ability to multitask, maintain a positive attitude, problem solve.
