Authorizations Specialist

Preferred Home Care of New York, a fully licensed Home Care Agency serving the NY Metropolitan area including Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties, is seeking an experienced , Authorization Specialist for our Brooklyn Corporate Office who is a strong communicator, pays extremes attention to detail and is committed to continuously acquire new skills.

REQUIREMENTS :

• Prior experience working with health care authorizations
• Prior Home Care Experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be well organized and able to multi task
• Excellent time management
• Extreme attention to detail
• Ability to accept direction and perform given assignments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to define problems and tasks, collect data and establish facts, take action and facilitate resolve

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have excellent speaking, writing and excellent customer services skills
• High school graduate; some college credit preferred.
• Investigative ability, highly organized, self-motivated, takes initiative, excellent written and verbal communication and analytical critical thinking skills; able to perform without much supervision

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review, process, and enter all authorizations and communications received from contracts
• Determine the necessary action(s) and notify all appropriate parties accordingly
• Follow up to obtain continuing authorizations of services for all expiring authorizations as well as any other needed authorizations
• Follow up on any changes or corrections needed for any authorizations
• Correspond with and advise all other departments regarding any authorization related issues or inquiries
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
