CNC Machinist

Experienced CNC Machinist Our Machinists in Mount Vernon work on large-scale, multi-axis CNC mills and lathes to machine one-of-a-kind precision components for naval nuclear reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers. This is a low-volume, highly-engineered manufacturing environment, where you'd be involved in the full life cycle of the build. You'll work in a safe, clean, and highly-specialized manufacturing environment alongside a great team of skilled colleagues. This is unique work that will allow you to demonstrate your machining skills all while supporting the safety of our nation's sailors. Your Day to Day as a CNC Machinist In this role, you will set up and operate CNC machine tools to perform various types of machining operations such as milling, drilling, tapping/thread milling, boring, and turning in order to meet print specifications. Additionally, you would: Use precision measuring equipment to verify products meet customer requirements and product specifications. Work to .001" tolerance and 16 microfinish when necessary. Write/edit programs using both G and M coded controls (experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls preferred). Troubleshoot challenges with support of on-site engineering. Routinely read and comprehend written instructions, technical procedures, prints, sketches, and bills of material. Work in a team environment by assisting the CNC Programmer as necessary to develop and/or test run programs. Use advanced mathematical skills to calculate proper speed and feed rates. Operate crane or assist with the rigging and moving of parts. Maintain clean work area and daily housekeeping duties. Collaborate and communicate with opposite shift through face-to-face carryover and log books. Work with tooling application engineers to devise optimum tooling design and practices. Work in accordance with all applicable company procedures, policies and rules. Required Qualifications: High school equivalency with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience. Associate's of Applied Science degree in Machining Tool and Die or equivalent training plus two (2) years of on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of experience. Experience with grinders, tool setters, jacks, clamps, bolts, shims, jigs, fixtures, angle plates, rules, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gages, levels, protractors, verniers, and light hand tools. Ability to maintain detailed records; ability to complete process documentation and other production records. Ability to work any shift, to include nights and weekends.
