RN - Peds cath lab Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12:00 PM - 12:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience License: Client RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: 2 years of pediatric cardiac catheterization lab experienceBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Description:The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others.Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards.Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management.Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.Prioritizes all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning post-hospital care while delegating to others as appropriate.Educates patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn, about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease.Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrates effective allocation of material resources.Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through facilitation of actions including, but not limited to, admission welcome, bedside shift report, high-risk medication reviews, and purposeful hourly rounding.Considers patients' values, preferences, and cultural diversity in all aspects of care.Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care.Initiates service recovery for patients and families who have concerns and escalates issues as needed.Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening in all interactions.Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge essential to quality and safety in the patient population served.Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional evidence and ensures compliance with procedures.Engages in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.Implements principles of high reliability to minimize high-risk behaviors and ensure a safe environment for patients.Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps from best practices following the established chain of command protocol.Utilizes institutional information technology by documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.Performs charge nurse duties as assigned.Coordinates with the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure appropriate utilization of supplies and inventory for patient care.Escalates material or staffing resource deficits as needed.Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to patient care.Documents accurately and thoroughly in compliance with regulations and standards of care.Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis.Contributes to an environment of care that supports clinical colleagues, patients, and their families.Advances clinical competence in nursing practice to progress from novice to expert.Projects a professional image and communicates in ways that demonstrate caring and respect.Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families.Encourages lifelong learning and innovation for self and others.Acquires knowledge and skills relative to the role and patient population.Participates in shared decision-making through nursing department committees and unit initiatives. #J-18808-Ljbffr Cynet HealthStaff
