Senior Production Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for managing Process Safety Management (PSM) production operations from receiving through shipping in a manner consistent with stated objectives of Kalsec.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Manage all production operations, personnel and equipment. Work cross-functionally to ensure profitability by providing raw materials and products to meet sales and procurement needs.
• Develop, establish, and manage budgets, standards and production schedules to maximize profit and leverage growth opportunities.
• Formulate systems, reports, procedures and training programs for production personnel and assist in the translation of those programs to other departments.
• Monitor adherence to policies, procedures, union contract, rules of conduct, safety rules and to undertake corrective action where necessary.
• Responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) for the processes running in the production area. Champion adherence to all process safety rules, guidelines and elements.
• Analyze operations, report deviations from expected performance and initiate corrective action.
• Maintain records necessary to monitor and control operations and direct the generation of monthly control reports.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive continuous improvement and increase manufacturing efficiencies. Leverage the data generated in control reports and the operations analysis information to help guide those strategies.
• Hire manufacturing personnel in accordance with company policies.
• Ensure the timely availability of supplies, materials and instructions to meet production standards.
• Schedule equipment and product mix to maximize utilization and issue operating instructions.
• Responsible for the scheduling, feasibility and profitability of performed experiments.
• Develop and implement Global Manufacturing Strategies for Kalamazoo Holdings through cross-functional interactions.
• To be aware of the company’s Q.A policy and objectives. To observe these policy provisions and fulfill in all respects the requirements of the job.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years related experience as an individual contributor and 3+ years of people/process managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required

• Education in Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Organizational Leadership.
• Leadership experience in food, beverage, chemical, process or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using lean manufacturing tools for manufacturing problem solving.

Desired

• Demonstrative management skills for organizing and presenting data in meaningful ways.
• Experience leading a Process Safety Management production operation.

Working Conditions:

• Knowledge of the work being performed in the assigned departments.
• General office equipment.
• Able to work occasionally with heat, noise, odor, heights, outdoor weather conditions.
