Assistant Controller

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our growing manufacturing company. This position will play a critical role in managing the day‑to‑day accounting functions, overseeing the monthly close process, supporting cost accounting and inventory controls, and assisting the Controller with financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and operational analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience, leadership capabilities, and a solid understanding of cost accounting, ERP systems, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Assist the Controller in managing all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations Support and monitor cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, labor and overhead allocations, and product costing Analyze manufacturing variances and operational performance metrics Prepare internal financial statements and management reports Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls Support internal audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Staff Accountants and AP/AR personnel Partner with operations, production, purchasing, and supply chain teams to improve financial accuracy and operational efficiency Assist with ERP system enhancements, reporting automation, and process improvement initiatives Support strategic financial projects and other duties as assigned by the Group Controller or CFO Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA designation preferred 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of SOX, GAAP, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred Experience with ERP systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Preferred Skills Experience with standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis Knowledge of inventory management and production processes Continuous improvement and process optimization mindset Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations and executive leadership Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Performance‑based bonus opportunity Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and company holidays Professional development and advancement opportunities Benefits for this position include: a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions; medical, dental and vision insurance; wellness programs; health savings account, health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts; company paid short‑term disability and long‑term disability; company paid employee basic life and AD&D insurance; supplemental employee and dependent life insurance; optional accident, hospital indemnity and critical illness insurance; adoption, surrogacy, and fertility benefits and assistance; commuter benefits; parental, military, jury duty, and bereavement leaves of absence; paid time off, including up to 10 paid holidays per calendar year depending on schedule worked, paid vacation days beginning at 80 hours annually, 40 paid sick leave hours annually or as provided under state and local paid sick leave laws, tuition assistance, business travel services; employee discounts; and an employee assistance program that includes company paid counseling sessions and legal services. Work Environment This role is based in a professional office environment within a manufacturing facility and may require periodic presence on the production floor to support inventory, operational reviews, and manufacturing analysis. Work Arrangement: Onsite. Pay Range: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 annually. Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
