Electrician II

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, CF, the Facility A Electrician II, CF is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and miscellaneous work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of building electrical systems primarily on Facility A, but as a secondary responsibility throughout the institution as well. These primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, Facility A Incarcerated individual Housing Units, Facility A Program Building, Gym, Dining and Kitchen, Facility A Vocational Yard, Central Kitchen and Laundry, K&L Steam Plant, Re-entry Hub, and the Complex 1/Central Control Building. Facility A Electrician II, CF, is responsible for directing, laying out and assisting with the work of assembling, installing, and repairing electric circuits, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboards, and other electrical devices. Supervises, instructs, and works with a small crew of incarcerated workers in the installation of transmission lines, operation and repair of electrical power generating plants and other electrical equipment. Inspects electrical systems to locate trouble and determine repair needs. Ensures that safety rules are observed. Selects and prepares lists of materials for the job and storeroom. Draws diagrams and sketches. Prepares estimates of job costs. Maintains work records and prepares various reports. Maintains accurate records on incarcerated individual time. Completes assignments and supervises the conduct of incarcerated individuals assigned. Trains and instructs incarcerated individuals in their work assignments. Submits periodic written appraisals of their conduct and productivity. Prevents escapes and injury to themselves or to property. Maintains security, inspects premises, and searches incarcerated individuals for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs. Performs other related duties as required per the classification of Electrician II. Participates in and utilizes all trainings and Personal Protective Equipment required for the execution of their duties and employment at High Desert State Prison.

These areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, Facility C Housing Units, Facility C Program Building, Gym, Facility C Vocational Yard, Satellite Kitchens, Complex II/Complex Control Building, and the Central Health/Correctional Treatment Center. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, CF, the Facility C Electrician II, CF, is responsible for directing, laying out and assisting with the work of assembling, installing, and repairing electric circuits, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboards, and other electrical devices.
