Packaging Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

Location: Jackson, TN

Shift: Third shift, 12:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., Monday–Friday

A night on the floor

When the clock strikes midnight, you’re already in motion—reviewing the production plan, confirming manpower, and aligning Adjuster Supervisors , their teams, and warehouse staff to hit the night’s targets. You assign machines, confirm safety readiness, and walk the floor to verify that each line is running at the correct speeds, producing to spec, and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Practices.

Throughout the shift, you coach team members, reinforce expectations, and ensure everyone has the tools and training to perform. You monitor product quality continuously, correct issues on the spot, and minimize waste. You track and analyze production results in real time, develop corrective actions when variances emerge, and communicate handoffs clearly to the next shift and plant leadership. New hires progress under your structured training and timely feedback, while the department benefits from your suggestions to improve safety, efficiency, and quality.

What you’ll lead

• Coordination of Adjuster Supervisors, their direct reports, and warehouse personnel to meet schedule, quality, and safety goals
• Daily staffing decisions and machine assignments to optimize throughput
• Equipment performance oversight—ensuring proper maintenance, correct run speeds, and consistent quality output
• Production recordkeeping for the shift, with analysis and corrective/improvement plans for any deviation from budget
• Cross-shift and plant management communication to align on objectives
• Continuous monitoring of product quality and proactive waste reduction
• Training, coaching, and development of new employees with timely progress feedback
• Reinforcement of all company and safety policies; promotion of a strong employee–management relationship and safe workplace
• Support of other departments and plant programs that drive overall site performance
• Strict adherence to GMP and Food Safety requirements, plus other related duties as assigned (including food safety)

What you bring

• High school diploma (required)
• Either 5+ years as an Adjuster Supervisor or 3–5 years of proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
• Experience with lean manufacturing preferred; Six Sigma exposure is beneficial
• Decisive judgment on safety, quality, production, and waste; strong visual acuity with no colorblindness to detect errors
• Mechanical aptitude for process understanding, routine troubleshooting, and problem-solving
• Clear, confident communicator with solid people-leadership skills across all shifts
• Ability to implement corrective actions and keep the Production Manager informed as needed
• Competence in math, organization/management, and recordkeeping to maintain accurate production documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Approximately one year expected to learn core components of the role

Compensation & benefits

Target base pay range: $70,000 – $90,000, plus bonus and benefits. The posted range reflects the minimum and maximum targets across U.S. locations. Individual compensation is based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training. At Novolex, it is uncommon for a hire to start at the top of the range; final decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances.
