Stabilization Specialist - Full-time!

Illinois Crisis Prevention Network - Melrose Park, IL

Salary Ranges:  

Bachelor's Level = $50,000-$56,000 annually (based on experience)

Master's Level = $57,000-$65,000 annually (based on experience)

SUMMARY

Serves as a member of the Illinois Crisis Prevention Network, providing guidance, direction and consultation for persons with developmental disabilities who are experiencing stressors associated with emotional, behavioral, and/or social disorders that have not been effectively addressed by previous treatment interventions. In conjunction with other team members, develops and implements effective action plans to ensure the individual remains in his/her current placement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Clinical Support/Clinical Fieldwork (75%) 

• Responds to assigned referrals within the designated time period of 24 hours for first contact and 72 hours for first observation 
• Maintains the prescribed minimum standard of care for assigned cases 
• Provides or models direct crisis services for persons served 
• Completes all required documentation, including but not limited to intake documents, service summaries, action plans, and case closure forms according to designated standards 
• In conjunction with the ICPN Clinical Supervisor and other team members, analyzes and reviews available data to determine level of need and course of treatment; Assesses underlying mental health conditions and their effect on behavior; Assists in recording data concerning the individual’s response to treatment 
• Conducts on-site observations in family homes, community providers, etc. and environmental reviews to determine factors in the environment that may have an impact on the individual’s responses 
• Works closely with community agencies, schools, and families to ensure training in and implementation of necessary support strategies in the attempt to generalize these strategies from one setting to another 
• Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, provider staff meetings, and additional meetings as requested in support of the individual in crisis and their clinical/medical needs 
• Under the guidance and direction of the Clinical Supervisor, collates data concerning adherence to the contract requirements, individual, family and provider satisfaction survey information. In addition, will collate individual specific data regarding response to behavior intervention, baseline data, etc.
• Maintains compliance with all applicable Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations and licensure requirements if applicable 
• Keeps an accurate and thorough medical record for each person served

Training & Professional Development (15%) 

• Implements and provides training for family and/or providers in the established behavioral strategies and adaptive skills recommendations. Ensures he/she effectively communicates all issues and concerns to the Clinical Supervisor & Director 
• As assigned, creates and delivers trainings for ICPN stakeholders 
• Participates in ICPN-sanctioned trainings 
• Provides educational training concerning basic principles of behavior analysis, overview of intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness, de-escalation, etc. 
• Participates in on-going professional development and continuing education through participation in workshops and conferences

Other (10%) 

• Participates in special projects and/or clinical opportunities for collaboration, research, and development 
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. 
• Assumes responsibilities as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of clients as outlined in the agency’s policies and procedures

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an indoor office environment or in the community at various agencies or family homes. The work may include significant usage of a motor vehicle as well as maintenance of an active, state-approved driver’s license; Work may require flexible hours, outside of normal business hours; this position will be subject to potentially high stress situations in unplanned environments and the employee should be able to navigate critical situations with a measured and solution-focused approach.

An ICPN clinician must model and work directly with clients and families in crisis; This role may be subject to prolonged periods of sit-down work at a desk and working on a computer as well as prolonged periods of sitting while traveling, walking, standing or otherwise supporting clients and providers, indoors and outdoors. The position and work involved traveling to various work sites as needed; Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs at a time; Requires supporting clients and/or adaptive equipment; willingness and ability to make quick body movements.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree from accredited university program in psychology, social work, or a related human service field

• Have specialized knowledge and experience in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Mental Illness 
• Understanding of Applied Behavior Analytic principles like functional analysis and formulating and implementing behavior plans with measurable and actionable goals and intervention plans 
• Expertise in the areas of clinical therapy, with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and/or dialectical behavior therapy 
• Expertise in the application of adaptive skills training, including but not limited to: social skills, coping skills, communication, anger management, and validation 
• Requires the ability to implement crisis interventions and to assist in the implementation of such interventions to ensure the safety of the individual and others 
• Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with service providers and family members. Requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a professional manner 
• Requires the ability to cope with sensitive situations in relation to staff, recipients, and community providers 
• Must understand and be able to apply strategies related to trauma-informed care 
• Must be able to demonstrate cultural humility and interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds with respect and dignity 
• Must maintain a professional appearance aligned with the organization’s dress code, but also with hygiene and grooming
