This is an opportunity to work directly with the President and operating leaders while overseeing the financial functions that support the organization. Why This Opportunity Stands Out Lead MEPX’s accounting and financial reporting functions Partner directly with the President and operating leaders Oversee monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, job-cost accounting, and WIP reporting Lead the Accounting team Provide administrative oversight to the Director of Human Resources & Payroll Salary of $140,000–$160,000 Full benefits package offered What You’ll Do Accounting and Financial Reporting Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, maintain general-ledger integrity, and prepare financial statements, departmental results, cash-flow reporting, and management analysis. Ensure reporting complies with GAAP, Comfort Systems USA policies, and operating-company accounting requirements. Coordinate financial review with the President and submit required information through OneStream. Job Cost, WIP, and Operational Finance Oversee job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, cost-to-complete reporting, and project financial controls. Partner with operating leaders to review forecasts, remaining costs, change orders, margin changes, billing status, retainage, collection risks, job setup, cost codes, budgets, allocations, rework, and project closeout. Budgeting, Controls, and Accounting Operations Lead the annual operating-budget process, consolidate budgets, validate financial assumptions, and provide budget-to-actual and forecast reporting. Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, approval workflows, segregation of duties, and internal controls. Oversee AP, AR, billing support, collections reporting, cash application, inventory accounting, fixed assets, audit coordination, cash reporting, bank reconciliations, purchasing-card controls, payment controls, and reserves. Use automation and standardization to reduce duplicate entry and unnecessary processing without weakening controls. HR and Payroll Oversight Provide administrative oversight to the Director of Human Resources & Payroll, including priorities, staffing, budgeting, performance management, payroll controls, benefit accounting, and compliance reporting. Review payroll-to-general-ledger integration, labor-cost allocation, reconciliations, and financial reporting while respecting the HR Director’s functional ownership of HR and payroll operations. Escalate significant employment, organizational, or HR ownership matters to the President when appropriate. Corporate Coordination Coordinate with Comfort Systems USA regional finance, Treasury, Internal Audit, external auditors, legal counsel, the President, and operating leaders as required. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Ten or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility. Financial systems, internal controls, budgeting, and audit experience required. Experience with construction, service, manufacturing, job costing, WIP, multi-entity reporting, or a publicly traded parent organization preferred. CPA or advanced degree preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls. Strong leadership, judgment, communication, confidentiality, process-improvement, and organizational skills. ERP implementation experience preferred.
