Position Overview

We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support a Kubernetes-based Platform as a Service environment operating across on-premise and air-gapped networks.

This position combines hands-on DevOps engineering, platform administration, automation, and cybersecurity. The engineer will support containerized applications, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, system security, and the integration of software and hardware into isolated environments.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Rancher, GitLab, Terraform, Ansible, Linux, Python, and secure automation within DoD or other highly controlled environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer, deploy, and maintain containerized applications and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Administer Kubernetes clusters through Rancher.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines supporting automated software delivery.
• Administer on-premise GitLab environments and offline container registries.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Automate platform and system administration tasks using Python and other scripting tools.
• Integrate newly acquired software and hardware into existing on-premise and isolated environments.
• Support application and software integration within air-gapped networks.
• Design, build, and integrate APIs into automated workflows.
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls protecting systems, applications, and data.
• Assess platforms and recommend security, performance, and reliability improvements.
• Perform system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and technical evaluation.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems.
• Support network connectivity and resolve platform, application, and infrastructure issues.
• Maintain monitoring, logging, and system-health solutions supporting platform operations.
• Apply current DevSecOps, cybersecurity, automation, and infrastructure engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Nine or more years of demonstrated experience in DevOps engineering, systems engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on Kubernetes cluster administration experience.
• Hands-on Rancher experience.
• Experience administering on-premise GitLab.
• Experience managing offline or isolated container registries.
• Strong experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience developing secure automation and scripts with Python.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, automated builds, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong Linux system administration experience.
• Experience with containerized environments and container orchestration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience integrating applications or software into air-gapped or isolated environments.
• Experience designing, building, or integrating APIs into automated workflows.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps cybersecurity practices, operational security, risk management, and system hardening.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, and platform issues.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II / DoD 8140 compliant certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or higher, required at time of start.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting U.S. Special Operations organizations is highly desired.

• Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS)
• CompTIA Linux+

Experience with Debian-based Linux distributions is also preferred.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent with nine or more years of relevant professional experience.

Work Environment

This is a 100% on-site position at Fort Bragg in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area .
