Pharmacy Technician in Katy, TX

An inpatient pharmacy technician position is available at a leading hospital located in Katy, TX, on a 13-week contract starting March 9. This opportunity involves working the 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift with rotating weekends, providing critical support in the preparation and dispensing of medications in an inpatient setting.


Key Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists in preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications suitable for patients ranging from infants to adults.
• Manage procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution of controlled substances following regulatory standards.
• Ensure medication accuracy by entering patient information such as diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the system.
• Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control measures during sterile product preparation, maintaining a minimum 90% score on required certifications and exams.
• Collaborate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain medication and supply inventory, complying with formulary procedures.
• Obtain pharmacist verification for all medication preparations and maintain comprehensive documentation to avoid dispensing errors.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license.
• National certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
• ACPE IV Sterile Compounding certification.
• Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient pharmacy experience.
