Junior Technical Writer

The Junior Technical Writer plays a critical role in ensuring that Coast Professional, Inc., is supported with the creation, editing, and maintenance of clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation. This role works closely with the Technical Writers, along with Operation and Support teams, to ensure all materials are consistent, technically correct and aligned with organizational standards. Performs related regulatory compliance research, analysis and evaluation activities, along with data entry and tracking within the learning management system and compliance management systems.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

• Assist in the drafting of policies and procedures in accordance with business goals, regulatory compliance and legal requirements for all Departments of the company
• Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect process changes
• Develop policies that are simple and clear that are easily understood by all employees
• Develop policies that are comprehensive and able to address questions and situations
• Prepares, packages and presents policies and procedures to management and lines of business for review and approval
• Conducts and attends all relevant meetings associated with job function and completes tasks correctly and timely
• Assist in annual ISO 9001 recertification in relation to policies and procedures.
• Monitor and update Compliance Management Systems, keeping records current and assisting with audits, reporting, and documentation required for regulatory adherence.
• Works with the Training team and others as appropriate to ensure policies and procedures are up to date, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers as it relates to regulatory compliance
• Support Technical Writers and compliance staff on larger products or tasks, as assigned
• Track and maintain Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training materials are up to date, properly organized, and accurately assigned.
• Maintains cohesive working relationships with all levels of management and lines of business to effectively produce projects and deliverables.
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
• Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications include:

Education: High school diploma or GED required

Experience: Experience in collections or related profession required

Knowledge: Knowledge of collection practices. Knowledge of Microsoft products (excel and word). Ability to prioritize work. Report preparations and techniques. Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of FDCPA,FCRA, TCPA, ECOA, UDAPP regulations. High aptitude for problem solving, analyzing data and interpreting contractual agreements. Highly organized, able to work independently, motivated to successfully meet deadlines, detail oriented with a high level of accuracy and ability to multi-task.

Skills and Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Handle multiple concurrent tasks. Maintain appropriate records and compile information for reports. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Work independently in the absence of immediate supervision. Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions. MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc..) at an intermediate level required. Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check.

Clearance: As a federal contractor, this position requires U.S. citizenship and security clearance granting access to classified information. The background investigation is conducted by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and is an evaluation of the whole person to determine suitability. The suitability review begins after a conditional offer of employment has been accepted and will include a review of your employment, education, residences, references, criminal history and credit, as an example. Some of the most important factors in an investigation are the individual's honesty, candor, and thoroughness in the completion of their security forms. In rare instances, non-U.S. citizens with highly specialized skills and experience may also be considered for the security clearance process.
