Benefits Training & development Swim Instructor Swim Instructor ($17.50-$19.00/hr, flexible schedule, paid birthdays off) British Swim School is on a mission to make the world a safer place. Swim lessons save lives, and you will play a vital role in promoting water safety and teaching swimming skills to individuals of various age groups and skill levels. We have two 24-Hour Fitness locations in Antioch and Brentwood. Responsibilities Teaching Swimming Skills: Teach water acclimation, survival, and stroke development skills, focusing on floating, kicking, stroking, and breathing. Water Safety: Emphasize safety principles, life‑jacket use, hazard recognition, and emergency responses. Assessment: Evaluate participants’ abilities and adapt instruction to their skill levels, providing guidance and feedback. Lesson Planning: Develop and organize lesson plans tailored to each swimmer’s needs and goals. Communication: Effectively communicate with students and parents/guardians, giving progress updates and addressing concerns. Demonstration: Demonstrate techniques and exercises in and out of the water. Safety Oversight: Maintain a safe and clean environment, check equipment, and enforce rules. Record Keeping: Document each student’s progress. Certification: Ensure participants meet standards for various levels and assist in awarding certificates. Continuing Education: Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and teaching methods. Qualifications High school diploma, equivalent, or in progress. Previous experience as a swim instructor or lifeguard preferred. Current lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required. Experience working with children preferred. Experience or interest in working with kids with disabilities/special abilities preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to work with all ages. Knowledge of swimming techniques and water safety. Patience, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching swimming.
