Maintenance Specialist

Maintenance SpecialistUnder the supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Specialists support the safe and efficient operation of campus buildings and equipment by performing general maintenance and repairs. This work requires practical skills and knowledge in painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical repairs, interior alterations, and general mechanical maintenance. In addition, this position works with the facilities and maintenance team on various projects as required. Assist with grounds upkeep and keeping the facilities clean. Salary Schedule: E3 04Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrioritize safety by securing work areas and identifying the root cause of failures and maintain accountability of all college-supplied equipment and tools.Conduct routine inspections on facilities, tools, lighting, equipment, and mechanical systems to spot issues early.Provides professional and reliable service during emergency service calls.Perform light construction, carpentry, painting, and general building modifications.Performing routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, or changing HVAC filters.Updating work orders daily, writing notes in the work order about services performed, and closing work orders upon completion.Follows through with assigned duties until completion.Serves on College committees as assigned.Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Executive Vice President, and/or President.Qualifications Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Preferred Qualifications: Three to five years of work experience in facilities maintenance.Strong problem-solving skills.Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Physical Requirements: Ability to read and write.Ability to work in both inside and outside environments.Ability to climb ladders.Ability to work from heights.Ability to drive a car or truckAbility to lift, move, or transport independently up to 75 pounds.Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and working in cramped and strained positions to perform the job scope.May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule, such as nights, weekends, holidays, and on call.Must possess a valid driver's license to operate College vehicles.Application Procedures/Additional InformationApplicants must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on this vacancy notice and must submit a completed online application packet to be considered for this position.
