Job Title: Auto Body Detailer / Collision Center Detailer

Job Overview

We are seeking a thorough, detail-oriented Auto Body Detailer to join our collision repair team. Unlike standard car wash roles, this position is a critical part of our high-quality repair pipeline. You will be responsible for validating vehicle health through diagnostic pre- and post-repair scanning , performing precision paint correction (color sanding and buffing) , and delivering flawlessly cleaned vehicles to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic & Technical Operations

• Pre- and Post-Scanning: Utilize collision diagnostic tools to perform initial pre-scans to document pre-existing codes, and final post-scans to ensure all vehicle safety systems (ADAS) and computers are clear of faults before delivery.
• Paint Correction: Perform expert color sanding (wet sanding) to eliminate dirt nibs, orange peel, and texture mismatches in freshly cured paint.
• Buffing & Polishing: Operate high-speed rotary and dual-action orbital buffers to remove sand scratches, compounding swirls, and holograms to achieve a high-gloss, showroom finish.

Detailing & Reconditioning

• Exterior Wash: Meticulously wash and dry vehicle exteriors, cleaning wheels, tires, wheel wells, and door jambs while checking for any remaining overspray.
• Interior Cleaning: Vacuum, blowout, and deep-clean vehicle interiors to remove all body shop dust, debris, and compound residue from dashboards, seats, carpets, and windows.
• Final Inspection: Act as the final line of quality control, inspecting vehicles for noticeable defects, paint imperfections, or missed areas before customer handover.

Shop Maintenance & Workflow

• Cleaning Duties: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe detailing bay. Safely dispose of materials and keep walkways clear of debris.
• Inventory & Safety: Monitor detailing chemicals and pads, requesting reorders as needed. Strictly follow safety procedures, including using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like eye and hand protection.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience in a collision center, body shop, or high-end detailing environment is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with high-speed buffers/polishers and experience with wet sanding/color sanding techniques.
• Scanning Competency: Familiarity with automotive diagnostic scanning equipment (e.g., CCC ONE, AsTech, or similar platforms) is a major plus, though we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, crouching, bending, standing, and operating heavy equipment for extended periods.
• License: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record to safely move and park customer vehicles.
