The Security Officer position is responsible for the day to day activities of ensuring safe and secure Children's campuses for the ambulatory and business locations. The officer will maintain a safe environment through routine patrols of the facilities, grounds, outlying buildings. The officer will respond to all calls both emergency and non-emergency as they occur or in order of importance, helping coordinate with police, fire, and EMS. The officer will monitor alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. This position will conduct security stands for patients and families at any off-site location as needed.

DHS required: Yes Location: Onsite Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred Experience: Prior experience responding and intervening in emergency situations such as crisis de-escalation, intervention, detainment of suspects, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing organizational policy preferred. Prior security experience preferred. Administrative professional experience preferred. License/Certification: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Forensic Interview (CFI), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a plus Must possess a valid driver's license (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Minnesota Fleet Safety Management policy) Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS) Must complete and pass use of force training within 30 days of hire Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must. Ability to work independently and as a team. Ability to retain knowledge, information, and directions on an ongoing basis and communicate effectively with others. Ability to comprehend numerous policies, procedures, concepts and to be able to make decisions using discretion and interpretive judgment based on general and specific policies. Ability to maintain accurate records. Must be customer service oriented. Knowledge of verbal and physical de-escalation, use of force continuum and arrest laws preferred. Ability to walk and climb stairs. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Ability to see and hear accurately in both day and nighttime conditions. Ability to detect irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations. Effectively contacts and interacts with emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel as required. Ability to restrain or subdue an individual. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to proficiently utilize detaining and apprehension tools as directed.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee's scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
