The Opportunity The Project Director role is a high‑profile leadership position within the Water / Wastewater business. You will lead the delivery of water infrastructure projects in the multi‑million‑dollar range as part of the Memphis, TN team. The Team Black & Veatch’s Governments & Communities sector focuses on infrastructure needs for municipalities, state and local governments, and federal agencies. The team partners with customers to modernize water infrastructure, optimize asset use, and reduce costs. Prospect identification, proposal development and client presentations. New business objectives and overall project performance. External client engagement and community activities. Market business plan support and strategy development. Oversight of engineering managers. Project performance goals and accountability. Internal project team and owner representative involvement. Project budgeting, invoicing, and payments. Team development, mentoring and coaching. Training and promotion recommendations. Preferred Qualifications 15+ years of business development and project management experience. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline. Professional Engineering License. Understanding of Wastewater and Water markets. Strong sales traits, including tenacity and competitiveness. Effective interpersonal and team collaboration skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strategic thinking and persuasive messaging. Contract negotiation skills. Knowledge of budgeting and financial metrics. Self‑starter, decision‑making ability. Ability to meet deadlines and manage shifting priorities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Compliance with pre‑employment onboarding requirements. Work Environment/Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options after 90 days. Typical office and construction environments, exposure to weather, noise, and safety hazards.
