Key Responsibilities

• Complete initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized plans of care for maternal and newborn patients.
• Triage patients based on presenting symptoms; assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening.
• Accurately administer medications and perform fetal heart monitoring interpretation.
• Competently manage obstetric emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
• Assess newborn condition; perform neonatal resuscitation, recognize and manage neonatal sepsis, and monitor for adverse events such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice.
• Cross-train to provide care for Med Surg and EICU patients as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum two-year degree in nursing required.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse license.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), S.T.A.B.L.E., and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications required within 1 year of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Four-year degree in nursing preferred.
• Experience managing pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
