Drilling Field Team Lead - Geologist/Scientist - Los Alamos, NM

The selected candidate will ensure all activities are performed safely, securely, and in compliance with regulatory and procedural requirements. Discover your full potential – join us to advance your career while leaving a lasting legacy.Essential Job Functions:Field Leadership & OversightServe as Person in Charge (PIC) for drilling and well activitiesOversee drilling and pump subcontractor activities, including drilling and sampling system repairsExecute daily plans of the day and maintain detailed technical logbook recordsPrepare daily field reports documenting onsite activitiesInterface with site visitors, including QA, Engineering, SWPPP, Operations, and stakeholdersProvide regular updates to the Project Management Team on field progressHealth, Safety & ComplianceConduct daily ESH tailgatesEnsure compliance with all project plans, regulatory requirements, and safety proceduresAct as site Environmental, Health, and Safety representativeSupport oversight and random audits of subcontractors by the prime contractorComply with all health and safety policies and practicesTechnical & Operational SupportCoordinate drilling and well maintenance activitiesCoordinate waste management supportCoordinate groundwater sampling and site/waste characterization effortsCoordinate collection of drill cuttings during drilling activitiesAssist with preparation of reports and project recordsCoordinate with the Project Manager on site access, communications, and event notificationsProfessional StandardsConduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standardsPursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledgeWork safely at all times and report health and safety incidents or concernsPerform additional duties as requiredRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or a related technical discipline preferredEquivalent education and/or relevant experience may be considered5–7 years of experience in water well drilling and/or groundwater sampling system maintenanceMulti-screen sampling systems experience preferredBroad understanding of groundwater remediation principles and drilling/well installation practicesAbility to perform complex professional tasks independently with minimal supervisionAbility to train and mentor junior staffStrong communication, documentation, and computer skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented project environmentAbility to obtain and maintain government clearanceMust possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.Must be a U.S Citizen.Life at Tetra Tech:The perks of working at Tetra Tech include:Comprehensive and market-competitive benefits. During drilling and well maintenance work on site, work often moves to a 7day/12hr (day & night) shift schedule in order to cover 24/7 drilling. Typical field schedule is 7 days on/7 off rotation.
