Patient Care Technician - Clinical Decision Unit

The Patient Care Technician on the Clinical Decision Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a CNA certification and at least one year of patient care experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably an ER. The candidate must be available to work three 12-hour shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays. This department is hiring for the Day/Evening shift: 7:00AM - 7:00PM. The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is an outpatient unit that provides observation services to patients that do not meet the admission criteria. A designated 16-bed medical unit where adult patients in need of additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment may be placed while a clinical decision is being made to admit the patient for hospitalization or discharge the patient for further care. Available for patient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays Hourly breakdown of salary range:

• Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.

• Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs.
• Updates and retrieves patient information.
• Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
• Acts as part of an assigned care team.

Experience Preferred: One year experience in an emergency room hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant.
Licensure/Certification Required: None.
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
