We are currently looking for a Full Time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Child Wellness Occupational Therapy team located at the Tishomingo Head Start working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

Provides Occupational Therapy services to children within the department of education child serving programs.

Responsibilities:

* Provide occupational therapy services to children enrolled in a Chickasaw Nation Department of Education child serving programs

* Demonstrate the ability to treat children of all ages, races, creed, gender and disability without bias or prejudice

* Treat children with respect and maintain a cooperative attitude with other employees to facilitate quality care

* Able to respect and understand a child's right to be involved in treatment decisions

* Confer with the person most closely associated with the active management of the care for any referred child and keeps them informed of any additional needs, treatments, modifications, and progress

* Implements proper techniques to treat children therapeutically

* Demonstrates the ability to handle tools and/or machines of the profession and maintains inventory of equipment needed for therapy services

* Coordinates with appropriate team members to include scheduling and implementation of Occupational Therapy services

* Responsible for preparation, completion and submission of reports pertaining to treatment within a timely manner

* Assure confidentiality of all records

* Must practice ethical responsibility based on the cultural and religious beliefs of clients served under applicable law

* Participate in continuing education opportunities provided to keep informed of new techniques and trends in the field of Occupational Therapy, and to remain in compliance for license to practice

* Actively involved in various discussion (staff and/or parent meetings)

* Able to maintain treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the child along with the classroom and/or other programs

* Provide presentations to community groups as requested and maintain good public relations, as well as provide informational presentations to staff within the Chickasaw Nation

* Assist in planning of new programs to be developed within the Department of Education as it relates to Occupational Therapy

* Assist the Supervisor and/or Manager with the revision of any procedures within the department/facility personnel as necessary

* Demonstrate strong ability to work independently, exercise efficient use of time, equipment, and supplies

* Occasional in state or out of state travel required

* Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency between services provided

* Travel to various program sites throughout the Chickasaw Nation to provide Occupational Therapy services

* Able to practice Occupational Therapy consistent with the American Occupational Therapy Association and Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in addition to Chickasaw Nation policies and procedures

* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency

* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities

* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types - Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment - Maintains and promotes professionalism - Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics - Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards

* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area

* Performs all other duties as assigned

Skills:

* Basic Computer skills

* Must be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite of products

Experience:

* 1 year directly related experience

Education:

* Associates Degree in directly related field

* High School, GED or Equivalent Essential: An associate's degree as an Occupational Therapist Assistant or higher is required for this position

Credentials:

* Occupational Therapy Assistant

* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR)

* First Aid Certification

* National Board of Occupational Therapy Certification

* Pass general background check

* Standard Driver's License

Working Conditions:

* Mental and physical ability to sustain tasks for long periods

* Subject to traveling and working at other locations or in other environments

* Constantly bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach

* Constantly lift and or carry up to 50 lbs
