Adjunct Lab Instructor

School of EMS

Reports to: Site Manager or Site Supervisor

SUMMARY

The Adjunct Lab Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality skills instruction and scenario facilitation during live sessions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides live skills and scenario instruction during lab classes. Supports the mission vision and values of the school to outside agencies Works closely with the primary instructor and SOE leadership in enforcing student compliance with policies and procedures Attends occasional team meetings and annual training Grades students on psychomotor and affective abilities according to the syllabus Follows the scheduled lab plan Reports on student progress and participates in debriefs Conducts themselves appropriately, especially if travelling

Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments. Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

2 years in a prehospital system at the level instructing The instructor must complete the School of EMS Instructor Orientation. Part 1: Completed prior to instructing students Part 2: Complete within 30 days of hire Part 3: Complete online module within 30 days of hire. Should complete the entire onboarding process including card course instructor within 6 months of employment. *Note the instructor must meet all requirements in their specific state, which may be more restrictive than the above*

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

State paramedic or EMT license in good standing, depending on the level instructing Language Ability Must exhibit the ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Math Ability Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment.

May be assigned to assist in training new adjunct instructors

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
