Section Chief Laboratory Technologist – Specialty Lab - Full Time – Days Step into the fast-paced world of New York-Presbyterian laboratories, where Laboratory Technologists are redefining the limits of science and medicine. With patients from across the globe, the role focuses on special chemistry and serology, performing routine and complex tests on clinical specimens, including assays for Immunosuppressive Drug Testing (ISD), Electrophoresis, Fetal Defect Markers, Sweat Chloride, and Kappa Lambda testing. Serve as a lead to other Laboratory Technologists, troubleshoot instruments and methods, perform all quality control procedures, assist with evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies, calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation, conduct validation studies, and research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations. Responsibilities Conduct routine and complex tests on clinical specimens in special chemistry and serology. Serve as a lead to other Laboratory Technologists. Troubleshoot instruments and methods. Perform all quality control procedures. Assist in evaluation of new equipment, reagents and methodologies. Calibrate and maintain lab instrumentation. Conduct validation studies. Research and establish new procedures to improve laboratory operations. Preferred Criteria ASCP certification. Chemistry background strongly preferred. Required Criteria Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 1 year of experience with an MD, DO or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical or biological science. Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or equivalent curriculum unless credentials are grandfathered in as life experience. New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department. Salary Range $61.40-$70.55 per hour. Notes Day shift position working Monday – Friday plus rotating weekends and holidays. Location: Columbia campus in Upper Manhattan/Washington Heights. All roles require on-site presence; employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse travel expenses.
