Details Fast-paced Neuro ICU treating neurological diseases and disorders including seizures and strokes at a comprehensive stroke center Also treats overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU 13-week contract with night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) Patient ratio of 1:3 Traveler will be first to float at facility's discretion, including to Main Campus (Dayton), South Campus (Centerville), and North Campus (Englewood) Floating may include assignment to another unit or supporting the nursing care team of the unit floated to Must work every other weekend and every other holiday Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and/or 2 years of comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital with some neuro experience required Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must be able to read and interpret cardiac strips Epic charting system experience required Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and ventilator management Neurological skills required include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care Experience with continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients including those with stroke, seizure, and post-neurosurgical needs Support overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical and Heart and Vascular ICUs as needed Must be comfortable floating within the hospital or to nearby facilities based on skill set and census with no restrictions Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of initial submission with no changes after offer References are not required for consideration Previous PRN or perm staff employees of the health system, or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure, must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler and require facility rehire approval Travelers are not eligible for facility employee incentives First-time travelers are not accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID P-741104.
