DC Shop Technician Supervisor

Job Summary The Shop Technician Supervisor oversees and manages the daily operations of a distribution center workshop, leading a team of technicians to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality completion of all maintenance, repair, and fabrication work. The role coordinates work schedules, provides technical guidance, monitors performance, and maintains compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision Direct and supervise a team of technicians, assigning daily tasks and ensuring work completion meets time and quality requirements Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that promotes productivity and engagement Monitor individual and team performance against PPH (pieces per hour) standards, providing regular feedback, coaching, and guidance Workflow Management & Planning Plan, prioritize, and schedule daily work assignments to ensure timely project completion Monitor workflow progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet deadlines Review operating goals and standards daily while ensuring adherence to all SOPs Implement best practices to enhance shop productivity and reduce downtime Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure all work meets company quality standards and client specifications through software tools such as "Product Quality" and "High Jump" Inspect completed work for accuracy, thoroughness, and quality Perform minor repairs on top surfaces of case pieces and tables Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery in proper working condition Safety & Regulatory Compliance Enforce safety policies and ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations Promote a culture of safety by guiding safe work practices and addressing hazards Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations Customer Service & Claims Management Record customer claim details, including information, issue descriptions, and supporting documentation Process and facilitate returns, exchanges, or repairs for defective products Ensure timely resolution to maintain customer satisfaction Inventory & Resource Management Oversee inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability when needed Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering to prevent work delays Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency Company Values Demonstrate the Company's Core and Growth Values in all job functions Secondary Responsibilities Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality Actively participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuing education Assist with training other employees and provide backup coverage as needed Complete other assignments and special projects as requested by management Qualifications Required Skills & Competencies Leadership: Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a technical team Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of workshop operations, maintenance, and repair procedures Quality Focus: Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and attention to detail Safety Consciousness: Thorough understanding of safety regulations and ability to enforce protocols Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Problem‑Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions Organization: Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities Work Environment This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and steel‑toed boots. The fast‑paced environment involves time‑sensitive and safety‑sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
