Mechanical Designer

Summary Responsible to assist the structural/mechanical engineering team in CAD modelling and drafting for bulk material handling systems using established drafting protocol. Demonstrates technical expertise in disciplinary field. Produces complex drawings that meet client specifications, in 2D and 3D formats. Prepares and interprets scale drawings, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aid. Gathers information and produces drawings for specific projects, reviews drawings for accuracy, revises and updates drawings for approval by customers, and prepares drawings for release to fabrication. Interprets and analyzes technical reports and specifications. Understands “Good Engineering Practices” for industry standards and routinely provides suggestions and feedback on drawings to aid in drafting development, problem solving, and solutions for the client, incorporating best business practices or that are innovative. Supports design efforts with detailed dimensional calculations to verify configurations and layouts. Meets project deadlines and quality goals. Interacts with clients and vendors to accomplish project goals. Communicates with Supervisors, Managers and Engineers on project operations. Mentors other Technicians and Junior Mechanical Designers. Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university (preferred but not required). Six or more years related experience in the bulk material handling industry. Five to Six years of experience within the bulk material handling industry. Six or more years of CAD experience. Bilingual in Spanish and German (considered an asset). Computer Skills Proficiency in 2D & 3D drawing software such as AutoCAD, Advance Steel (preferred but not required), SolidWorks, and/or Inventor. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides mentorship and feedback to other CAD Technicians, Interns, and Junior Designers. Salary Salary from $102,000 USD, commensurate with experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
