The City of Raleigh is seeking a Master Electrician to join our team with Raleigh Water. This position will be devoted to journey-level skilled trades work in the construction, alteration, and repair of utility plant facilities and equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and control equipment supporting the operations of a large-scale water treatment and pumping facility. This role ensures the continuous and safe operation of medium-voltage power distribution, motor control centers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation critical to water treatment, distribution, and pumping processes.

Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnosing complex electrical and control system issues, performing preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure, updating wiring diagrams and control schematics, and ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and safety regulations. The electrician collaborates closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to maintain system integrity and operational efficiency.

This position requires expertise in industrial automation, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to respond to emergency repairs under minimal supervision in a mission-critical environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in instrumentation and controls as well as industrial or commercial electrical system, installation, troubleshooting, and repair. A strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take on challenges with a positive attitude are essential qualities for success in this role.
