Travel RN - Pediatric ICUAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of high-acuity PICU experience at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.Position details:Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a 247-bed teaching hospital that is also a Chest Pain and Certified Stroke Center24-bed PICU with an average census of 21-23 patientsPatient population includes respiratory, trauma (including penetrating and non-accidental trauma), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant (kidney and liver), complex medical, and blood disorder casesRN to patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:212-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycleWeekend rotation required: 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, and 2 Mondays every 6-week scheduleNo on-call requirements; if not needed in PICU, may be floated to PCVICU, Peds Progressive, NICU, or general Peds unitsFloating required as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General PedsUses EPIC EMRRequirements:Active RN license (NC or Compact) requiredCurrent BLS and PALS certification requiredMinimum 2 years of strong, high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience requiredMinimum 12 months of core work experience in the unit specialty, with most recent experience within the last yearComfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment requiredExperience required with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring), Belmont Rapid Infuser, and critical care vasoactive drip titrationExperience managing invasive lines (ART lines/CVP), ventilators, tracheostomies, and HFOV requiredSkills required in chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation/analgesic drip management, Foley catheters, and feeding tubesCRRT experience requiredExperience with Alaris and Medfusion pump management requiredLast 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for considerationMinimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RNAdditional information:Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across a wide range of complex diagnoses and surgical needsPerform bedside procedures with providers and manage discharge planningAbility/competency to float to Pediatric CVICU discussed during interviewUnit supported by CNA/Health Care Tech, unit secretary, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, and in-house intensivist, residents, and APPsCentralized and bedside patient monitoring used in place of a dedicated telemetry techOrientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientationHoliday coverage required for 75% of holidays, with unit requirement of eve and day of every other holiday while contractedRTO subject to manager approvalNavy scrub color requiredFree parking availableUnit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and compassionate hard workFirst-time travelers welcome to applyTraveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not acceptedReturning employees must be separated from any facility within the health system for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
