Retina Specialist

Boston Vision is seeking a retina specialist (medical or surgical) for expansion and succession planning. The practice operates 7 offices throughout Boston, primarily serving the northern offices. A flexible schedule is available and the role includes comprehensive patient care. Essential Functions Diagnose, treat and develop care plans for patients with medical retinal conditions. Work with ophthalmic technicians, patient services representatives and other physicians to orchestrate high‑quality patient care. Treat retinal and vitreoretinal diseases, including manifestations of local, systemic and genetic disorders that affect the retina and vitreous. Perform diagnosis using ultrasound, fluorescein angiography, and electrophysiology. Create treatment and care plans, schedule additional appointments, prescribe medications, and discuss care options and surgical procedures with patients. Equipment and Software Nextech EMR Heidelberg OCT in all offices Optos with FA capability Humphrey Field in all locations Unified imaging (Forum) ERG Administrative Retina Duties Assist the existing remote team in processing physician assistant and insurance work for retina injections. Collaborate with the lead retina technician, remote team, and billing to process necessary paperwork for retina medications. Minimum Requirements Medical Doctorate (MD) in Ophthalmology. Completion of 1‑year internship and 3‑year ophthalmology residency. Completion of 1‑2 year retina fellowship program. Call Duties Primary call at Boston Vision (3–4 weeks per year) is split among MDs, with the cornea fellow covering roughly half. Practice call does not include hospital or ER coverage. Call rotation may fluctuate based on the number of MDs and includes BIDCO credentials and participation in the BID retina call, backing up a retina fellow. Position Type and Expected Hours Flexible time requirements with a minimum of 3 days per week. Standard clinical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Travel Primary coverage locations include Medford, Andover, and Lawrence offices. Work Authorization All employees must already be authorized to work in the United States.
