Systems & Software Engineer: Power the Software behind Our Weapon Systems!

Are you a highly skilled technical professional who wants your work to directly impact the battlefield? We are seeking an engineering specialist to facilitate the implementation of critical software fixes, improvements, and system integrations for the nation's most advanced weapon systems.

In this vital role, you will be a key contributor to the operational readiness of Major Commands (MAJCOMs) and the front-line warfighter. You will ensure that our weapon systems are reliable, compatible, and lethal by executing rigorous software testing, system integration, and cybersecurity operations.

Your Mission and Impact:

- As a core technical expert, your responsibilities will span the entire software lifecycle and system integration process:

- Certify and Integrate Flight Software: Perform precise certification and verification for software builds to deliver critical operational capabilities to the field. You will assist in integrating complex system equipment to ensure absolute design performance and compatibility.

- Advise System Program Offices (SPOs): Partner directly with SPOs to analyze and prioritize critical software changes, manage system requirements, allocate resources, and plan for long-term security assistance and management challenges.

- Drive Financial Planning: Help shape the future of our programs by preparing detailed workload budget inputs, ensuring accurate customer budgeting and precise requirements identification.

- Safeguard the Network: Support the section's comprehensive cyber operations, ensuring our systems remain secure and resilient through Information Assurance, Software Assurance, Network Administration, and general IT support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Obtain & maintain the appropriate Security clearance

- This is a designated Drug Testing Position

- The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain Cyberspace qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance.

2. Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.

3. Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot database performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions.

4 . Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.

5. Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state of the art technology.
