The YMCA Before and Aftercare Educator plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and physical development of children in a safe and nurturing environment. Working within a medium team of 4-6 educators, this position involves supervising children, managing behaviors, and ensuring safety during program hours. The YMCA role is primarily based at Central Denison and Star Center Elementary Schools.

Under the supervision and guidance of the School-Age Child Care & Preschool Director, the extended care staff is responsible for the supervision of children and execution of the Y BASE program. This is a school-year position requiring approximately 22.5 hours per week. Lake Geneva - Central Denison Elementary AM Care 6:30-8:30 M-F |PM Care 3:30-6 M-F. Star Center Elementary position also available at 10 hours per week. Under the supervision and guidance of the School-Age Child Care & Preschool Director, the Care Staff is responsible for the supervision of children in our before/after care programs. Position can include School Day Out Camps at the YMCA. Free family YMCA membership for the applicant's household if hired. 

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during before- and after-care program sessions
• Monitor safety and ensure a secure environment for all participants
• Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive interactions

 

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in childcare
• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPR and First Aid certification training provided by the YMCA
• Praesidium training of 2 hours paid provided before first work shift
• Skills in child supervision and behavior management
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Basic record keeping proficiency
• Completion of Abusive Head Trauma Prevention course, training provided.
• Must pass FBI Print Background check prior to start date.
