Clinical Laboratory ScientistWe are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our PRN (as-needed) team. This role offers a flexible schedule while providing essential support to laboratory operations during peak workload periods and staff coverage needs. Regular operating hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with PRN shifts scheduled based on departmental needs.The Clinical Laboratory Scientist participates in the multidisciplinary process of delivering diagnostic information to providers and offers ethical expertise to the professional medical staff. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will function within the scope of practice regulated by State and National government as well as various accrediting agencies.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, develops skills and maintains abilities in all assigned laboratory areasMaintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagentsPerforms advanced equipment troubleshooting and equipment maintenanceEnsure necessary procedures are followed before utilizing equipment after service. Workstations are restocked with supplies to maintain a consistent workflow. Specimen status (pending log, problems, critical values, etc.) is communicated to the appropriate person(s)Participates in quality, safety, and compliance programsPerforms phlebotomy: capillary punctures, and venipunctures as appropriate for patients of all ages requiring the procedureFollows established safety practices including biohazards, exposure control plan (blood-borne pathogens), infection control to include universal precautions, employee right to know (hazardous chemicals), and chemical hygiene standardPromotes effective working relationships as part of a team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectivesAttends all in-service and continuing education as required by health and wellness center, policy, and licensure requirementsDemonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environmentMaintains strict confidentiality of Personal Health Information and adheres to HIPAA regulationsMay be able to perform direct observations and do competency on other employeesOther duties as assigned by the lab supervisorJob RequirementsEducation:Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.Experience:Two (2) years in a clinical laboratory environment preferred.Phlebotomy experience preferred.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Current board certification (ASCP or another recognized certifying board).Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.Strong organizational and decision-making skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office and should have LIS experience.Good analytical judgment, troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.Personable, friendly, team orientated.Organized, accurate and detail orientedGood interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and providersBilingual a plusProven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusion.Potential for travel to other moderately complex labs
