Peace Living is actively seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Adaptive Skills Professional to join our team!

$1,000 Sign-On Bonus: Earn a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of 150 work hours.

Our AST (Adaptive Skills Training) services extend to the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Antelope Valley, and Downey City, supporting individuals aged 6 to adults, as well as their parents, with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

As an innovative and comprehensive adaptive skills provider, Peace Living specializes in supporting individuals with diverse needs, including autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, and emotional challenges. Our program empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to participate more actively in their communities.

About the Role

As an Adaptive Skills Professional at Peace Living, you will play a crucial role in helping consumers develop essential life skills, including socialization, community orientation, self-care, meal preparation, money management, vocational readiness, public transportation usage, and social and leisure exploration.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working with a diverse population of children and adults. We provide ongoing training and offer a quarterly performance-based allowance for dedicated direct staff.

Flexible Scheduling

We offer flexible work hours, matching educators with consumers based on their availability, experience, and the consumers’ developmental needs. Educators and consumers can mutually adjust or establish schedules once services begin.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Medicine, Speech and Language, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience designing and implementing adaptive skills training plans or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Asperger syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, or other developmental disabilities.
• Valid driver’s license, car insurance, access to a vehicle, and a clean driving record for the past two years.
• Ability to complete required criminal background and Live Scan checks.
• TB test results from within the past two years (must obtain within 30 days of hire if needed).
• CPR and First Aid certification, and fingerprint clearance.
• Reliable cell phone service for communication with the office.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, safety procedures, mandated reporting laws, and related training requirements.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong organizational, professional, and responsible work habits.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• ASL proficiency, bilingual abilities, and Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.

Assigned workload may consist of 1–4 consumers.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $23.25–$32.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
• $1,000 sign-on bonus upon successful completion of 150 work hours.

Job Details

• Job Type: Part-time, with the opportunity to advance to full-time if desired.
• Expected Hours: 20–40 per week.
• Schedule: Typically after-school hours, with limited daytime availability.
• Shifts: 4–8 hours.
• Days: Monday–Friday, with weekends as needed.
