The South Dakota Department of Revenue is seeking an individual to provide front-line customer service and clerical support as a Senior Secretary in the Rapid City office. This individual will work with a team of tax consultants. This position performs a variety of support functions including greeting customers, answering and routing phone calls, establishing and maintaining computerized and/or manual files, receipting money, data entry, imaging documents, assisting walk-in customers with completing applications, processing incoming and outgoing mail, making changes to taxpayer accounts based upon information received from taxpayers and from tax program staff, answering inquiries from taxpayers regarding tax obligations, and various other duties as assigned.


In addition to the above job duties this position will also be the lead contact for sales tax collections for special events which includes explaining which taxes apply, working with event coordinators to distribute tax returns, gather vendor lists and perform follow-up collections when needed along with being assigned special projects where they will need to make decisions and work independently.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Excellent communication, customer service, teamwork, organization, and computer skills. Must be able to handle possible stressful situations and switch quickly from one task to another. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are also important in this position.
