The Pipefitter is responsible for comprehending and utilizing blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals, and work process instructions in order to measure, cut, thread and bend pipe (of multiple material types) to required shape using hand and power tools. This position must also have the ability to install prepared pipe into systems. This role reports directly to the Lead man or Foreman as assigned.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Lays out and fabricates piping and possess the ability to install into established piping systems within technical guidelines. Read and interpret basic drawings, technical manuals and weld symbols.Pass tack-weld test procedure Inspection of work, identification of potential problems, initiation of corrective actions. Perform as a productive working team member that meets daily goals set by the supervisor. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required. Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary depending on schedule and job contract.
