MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Master's degree level or higher in Speech-Language Pathology. Valid Georgia Educator's Certificate through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

GOAL


Work with school system personnel and community to develop and provide an appropriate special education program to eligible exceptional children.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the coordination and implementation of quality services provided by speech-language pathologists (SLP), occupational therapists (OT) and physical therapists (PT).
• Monitor caseloads and assist in school SLP, OT and PT assignments.
• Monitor and coordinate orders for program materials, testing protocols and equipment.
• Attend eligibility and Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings when a parent advocate is attending or at the direction of the Supervisor of Special Education.
• Assist in interviews of candidates for OT, PT and SLP positions.
• Participate in Central Office planning and support meetings.
• Coordinate and oversee the implementation of quality service delivery by SLPs, OTs, and PTs.
• Monitor due process procedural safeguards to students receiving therapy services.
• Monitor caseloads/workloads per State/District guidelines, recommend staffing adjustments as necessary, and request personnel allotments as needed.
• Monitor Medicaid compliance, adherence to GCIMP timelines, and FTE data reporting.
• Act as central point of contact for contract agencies for SLPs, OTs, and PTs.
• Monitor accuracy of billing for services provided by contracted SLPs, OTs, and PTs.
• Provide evidence-based professional development and conduct monthly staff meetings for SLPs, OTs, and PTs.
• Monitor amount spent on eligible private/home school students annually (including carry-over of unspent amount to the next school year).
• Assist with budget preparation for OT/PT and SLP programs.
• Attend IEE reviews when speech-language evaluations are included.
• Conduct specialized evaluations of students at the direction of the Supervisor of Special Education.
• Attend regional and state meetings related to SLP, OT, and PT issues and needs.
• Work cooperatively with the Purchasing Department to develop and review RFPs for OT/PT/SLP services.
• Research and review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
• Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
